Measmer Takes Win Number Six at Concord
RE/Denny's #14 Team Sets Record for Wins
Bobby Measmer, Jr. and the Hughes Motorsports team put together a remarkable season in 2009, culminating with win number-six on their rookie season in the NASCAR Pro Late Model division at Concord Speedway on October 17th. Next up for Hughes Motorsports is the Snowflake 100 Pro Late Model event at Five Flags Speedway (FL) on December 5th.
Kevin Hughes and his Hughes Motorsports team have seen plenty of success over the years and hope for further success in the Pro Late Model ranks.
Six times during the 2009 racing season, Hughes Motorsports and its driver Bobby Measmer, Jr., celebrated a victory at North Carolina’s Concord Speedway at the nearby Denny’s restaurant at Concord Mills. The most successful team during the 2009 season at the daunted half-mile track enjoyed Grand Slam breakfasts, burgers, steaks and more after each victory – all while showing off the winner’s trophy at the front counter of the new family-friendly restaurant.
Now, with two championships on their plates for the 2010 season, Hughes Motorsports hopes for even more victory celebrations this season at the Denny’s Concord Mills location and at other Denny’s restaurants across the East Coast.
For the second straight season, Denny’s restaurants will back Hughes Motorsports’ Pro Late Model efforts in 2010, as well as their NASCAR Late Model Stock Car schedule at Concord Speedway. Hughes Motorsports will compete for both the Pro Late Model and LMSC championships at Concord with the Denny’s logo adorning the identically-designed #14 Chevrolets. Hughes Motorsports also plans to compete in select Pro and Super Late Model events with Denny’s support, including events on the Pro All Stars (PASS) South and Champion Racing Association (CRA) tours, as well as the Snowflake 100 Pro Late Model event at Pensacola, Florida’s Five Flags Speedway in December.
“We truly enjoyed the partnership with Denny’s in 2009 and we hope to show off even more winner’s and championship trophies after the races in 2010,” said Hughes Motorsports Team Owner Kevin Hughes, who works as the Director of Motorsports Communications Services for Racing Electronics. “Bobby, the crew, our families and fans had some great food after each race and we always had an awesome time, but whenever we won, the already-great food tasted even better. We can’t thank restaurant owner Carl Ferland and manager Cyndi Krause enough for their support over the past season and we hope for even more great memories at Denny’s in 2010.
Bobby Measmer, Jr. is the 2007 NASCAR Late Model Champion at Concord Speedway. In 2009, Measmer teamed up with longtime friend Kevin Hughes’ Hughes Motorsports team and became the winningest driver at the track for the season. In the Pro Late Model division, Hughes Motorsports earned six victories, a division-high, and finished second in points. A championship would have been in the works, but the track scheduled a make-up race on a previously-announced off weekend on which Measmer was getting married. As a family operation, Hughes Motorsports skipped the event, but still came within a handful of points of the championship.
In 2010 however, Hughes Motorsports and Bobby Measmer, Jr. have their primary goals for the year set on being a two-division Champion at Concord Speedway. Hughes Motorsports will compete in the five scheduled Pro Late Model events at Concord and the full 12-race NASCAR Late Model Stock Car series.
“We have gone through and rebuilt both the Pro Late Model and the Late Model Stock Car in preparation for this season,” said Measmer. “We have left no stone unturned when it comes to our entire operation and we’re excited to get the season started in just a few weeks with the support of Denny’s and all of our loyal partners. 2010 is going to be a huge season for us at Concord and in some big shows that we run with the Pro Late Model this season. I’m excited to see just how many victory celebrations we’ll have at Denny’s this year.”
